Party Planning Tips

One month before your party

• Choose a party theme
• Draw up a guest list
• Select the party date and set a time
• Decide on a location
• Set a budget
• Send out the invitations, include RSVP and keep track of numbers
• Think about party activities, entertainers, face painting, games, lucky dips etc
• Order your party novelties, decorations and party favors
• Organise venue, caterers, entertainers and disco etc (this may need to be done 6 months in advance, depending on the time of year)

Two weeks before your party

• Plan your menu and consider anyone with dietary requirements
• Ensure you have enough tables and chairs, cutlery etc
• Plan activities and games for the party
• Make lists for food, activities, decorations, etc

The week before your party

• Buy the cake or the ingredients if making your own
• Make party food and freeze to save time
• Confirm any orders or arrangements made for the party

3-4 days before your party

• Buy any food and drink you still need for the party
• Confirm how many guests are attending
• Charge camera and or camcorder

The day before your party

• Ensure food is prepared if it can be done in advance
• Get the cake ready or pick it up
• Have the candles and matches to hand
• Decorate the venue if you can to save time on the day

Party Day!

• Complete final decoration (inside and outside)and have party novelties/favors ready
• Lay all food and drink out on party tables
• Take pictures and videos to remember the day
• Relax and enjoy the party!

The day after

• Clear up & have a rest!
